Multi-modal transportation planning for multi-commodity rebalancing under uncertainty in humanitarian logistics

Multi-commodity rebalancing plays a critical role before and during the attack of large-scale disasters. In practice, some relief centers can be out reach from ground for vehicles due to road disruption. Accordingly, alternative transportation systems are essential maximize fairness minimize total time, simultaneously. However, little study has reported on this issue humanitarian logistics. To address it, bi-objective stochastic optimization model is proposed rebalance transport commodities with multi-modal system. This work first linearizes then applies an adaptive augmented E-constraint method obtain number Pareto-optimal solutions. Furthermore, case emergency event carried out, which computational results indicate its decision making effectiveness. Lastly, sensitivity analysis parameters conducted trade-off between objectives also analyzed provide valuable managerial insights.
